Esquire Vanity

This vanity is made of solid walnut with mortise and tenon as the primary source of joinery.   My two favourite joints can't be seen. They're hidden in places no one would look, but it's deeply satisfying to know that they're well made.

Because a vanity has plumbing running through the middle, it creates a challenge when trying to install drawers. We avoided the problem by using centre under-mount slides. These allow the drawers to be mounted off centre, maximizing space beside the sink. As a bonus, they're also inexpensive.

This was my favourite project of the summer of 2020. It came together beautifully. While obviously labour intensive, custom furniture is repairable and strong. This piece will last centuries, if maintained.
