About Ian
What I'm building at any moment is my sole focus. Although I am influenced and inspired by the simplicity of mid-century modern design, each project I take on is unique and is enriched by collaboration with the Client. As it is being created, the Client is updated as to the progress and asked to participate in the overall design.
For me, carpentry is best summarized as follows: make it the best it can possibly be, while minding budget and time constraints. These considerations are as critical as the art form - and they figure greatly in the Client’s appreciation at the end of the day, which is where the real joy is!
What I build matters to me. This has motivated me to keep learning about this complex craft since I was a child. Design, function, and structure are creatively entwined and the end result is a piece that has timeless beauty.
In a word, I am a craftsman.
